...today in pictures...

QuikTrip opened their 700th store in St. Louis today to much pomp and circumstance, and Andy and I were there to celebrate with them!

Budweiser Clydesdales: absolutely gorgeous creatures!
I kept asking to pet Curly because he was so sweet and soft.

I feel like this picture doesn't do the crowd justice, but it's the only one I took.
We didn't even wait in some lines.

Cute mascots!

Fredbird danced with me to Pharrell's Happy.
(Love the lower lip bite. I was super nervous!)
Fredbird is my favorite St. Louis Cardinal...

Andy's never shy...I think he and Fredbird might be besties now...

Then we headed downtown to get some stl250 cake pics.
The cobblestone streets of Laclede's Landing can take you back in time.
Andy has never been to this historic district, and I think we'll need to go
back to check out the nightlife sometime soon!

Not sure why the cake was in the air, but okay...

Then we walked over to the Gateway Arch...

Then we went on a mad hunt for the Eads Bridge cake.
This one was tricky to find, and we sort of got into an argument over it...

So we took a bite out of it in celebration...

I asked Andy to sit in this pretty spot and he wouldn't, so I did...

....and then he promptly insisted on having his own photo taken!
There were some girls that drove by giggling and gave him a thumbs up.
Some of my most memorable moments this year were made when I chose to go anyway. You know, the kind of adventure that doesn't really seem like an adventure and so you question whether you should even step out of the house or if you should just stay home and watch another episode of that show or read another chapter in that book?

One of the best lessons that I've learned this year is that some adventures will only happen once in my lifetime.

Hope you have big plans for your weekend!

PS. I forgot - one more thing happened today - this popped into my inbox...

San Fran, here I come!

  1. Congratulations!!! I know you really wanted to run in this race. Very happy for you. I'll be cheering you on all the way.

Sharon have you ever heard of or tried a product called House Foods brand tofu pasta? I know tofu is good for you but I have always found it yuck. I saw this product on pinterest and it recieved glowing comments. One woman said she melted a wedge of Laughing Cow cheese on the pasta and it was great. I like cheese so I thought I would give it a try. They said it was located with the other fresh pasta, like Buitoni. Nope, I've checked two large chain groceries and have not found it. I'm thinking it's just not available in this area.

I used to sew a great deal but in the past few years not so much. You know what they say about skills, you either use them or lose them. Well in making these aprons I can see that sewing abilities that used to be second nature to me are not so anymore. I'm just plain rusty. From now on the sewing machine will not be put away after each project. It will stay out with a project to work on and a project in the planning. I think with practice that I can get back to where I was and can improve and learn more.

Have a great weekend my friend.

  2. Oops! forgot to tell you that I found a recipe for Zucchini Lasagna at skinnytaste.com. It replaces lasagne noodles with thin slices of zucchini. I'm going to try it this weekend and will let you know how it turns out. :-)

    1. Have you found the tofu yet? I'm not a fan of tofu! Yick! I can't wait to hear how the zucchini lasana turned out!

Hopefully keeping the sewing machine out will help, if you have a place for it. We have no extra room and so I have to store it whenever I'm not using it. How many aprons did you end up making?

Looking forward to checking out callmeishmeal.com! Thanks for the info.

Guess what! A flooring guy is coming tomorrow. Yeehaw! I hope this gets done quickly...

I hope you have a wonderful start to the week! Do you have big plans for the Fourth of July?
