...new beginnings...

Training for the Nike Women's Half Marathon in San Francisco began today. My feet hit the floor with nervous anticipation and my stomach fluttered. Was I sure I wanted to do this? Too late now.

When I think about what I'm hoping to accomplish, it all seems a little bit bigger than me and what I'm able to do...and I'm scared.

...scared I'll fall...

...scared I'll get hurt...

...scared I'll fail...

I pinned this quote a long time ago, and came across it again yesterday as I scoured my Pinterest boards for projects that were awaiting my attention. It's a great little reminder, don't you think?

It's Monday. A new day, a new week, a new beginning. Go make it an amazing week!

  1. Don't think to far ahead to the race and all that might go wrong. Your a worrier like me, that is how we talk ourselves out of things. Just concentrate on your preps and what you feel you need to do to get ready and you will be fine on the big day.

I understand what your saying about the frozen fries. Last year I sent my cousin a recipe for diy frozen french fries and she gave me a potato slicer for Christmas. You know the kind where you push down on a lever and it feeds the potato thru a grid of blades. Works pretty well with russet potatoes, I'll try it with sweet potatoes soon.

I'm still doing the shopping around the perimeter of the grocery store thing. I don't think I could go back to the old way. I'm shopping more and more at a meat market and a produce market and just going to a big chain grocery when needed. We don't have a Trader Joe's here. We have Kroger and HEB, neither of which do I think you have in your area. The meat and produce markets where I go are locally owned. The cake turned out fine, a little on the plain side but fine. Would be better if it had a little pineapple glaze on top but that would add to the calories. Also if you want to make it I sprayed the pan and it still stuck a bit so next time I will do the old fashioned butter and flour bit and see if that works better. Next up is a blueberry pound cake that I like to make in the summer. It uses a butter cake mix and is very easy to make. I have some cake mixes I need to use up and then I'm finished with prepackaged cake mix. I'm going to try and make my own mix. I have the recipes I just need to get with it.

You remember due to my impatience I planted to many pepper plants. Well now I have peppers galore. I've given some away and today I'm going to make poppers. Do you like poppers, have you made them?

I have everything together to make three aprons this week. One clothespin apron (yes I have a clothesline) and two gardeners aprons. I'll let you know how they come out.

    Enjoy your week :-)

    1. I am a worrier! I do talk myself out of things! Great observation - I need to fix that.

Blueberry pound cake sounds amazing! Haven't been making any sweets lately, but that might be one to try.

I've never had poppers, but I'd be willing to try. We have several small peppers, but only one that warranted picking, and I gave that one to friends today.

Love to hear about your aprons! I spent some time last weekend making some things and had a fun time doing it.

Loved the Barcelona Go video, though I wish it was longer. I like seeing all those sites. I guess it's time to start planning for a Spain trip...

Hope you have a fabulous weekend!
