Did workers really show up to our house this morning just before 7:30am to fix our house? After all these months, it seems a bit surreal.
Andy and I needed to dodge the sounds of the saws and nail guns, so we went to breakfast and then drove through Lone Elk Park.
Lone Elk Park is a drive through park only a short drive from where we live. (It's funny how we have this desperate desire to explore, but we seem to believe that it can't happen in our own backyard!) It is home to white-tail deer, bison/buffalo, and elk. (It also has a STL250 cake!)
Here are some pics:

Afterwards we went to Lowe's to get some necessary house supplies, and then headed back to our demolished house to scrounge for lunch. Then, we placed pins in our antique world map of where we have been, and made a list of where we hope to go. As always, the best part of the day was spending time with Andy, no phones, no TVs, just chatter and dreams.
Animals in their own element are startlingly beautiful creatures! On our travel bucket list: African safari! Fingers crossed we'll make it there someday.
To which amazing places do you hope to travel one day?
Hooray! Yippee! So happy the workers finally showed up to fix your home. I hope the process won't take long.
ReplyDeleteI start back on August 18th :-(
Recipe time, sorta.
Blueberry Pound Cake
1 package butter cake mix 3 eggs
8 oz. cream cheese, softened 2 c. blueberries
1/2 c. vegetable oil
Pre heat oven to 325 degrees. Lightly grease and flour a 10 inch tube pan. Combine cake mix, cream cheese, oil, and eggs. Beat until smooth. Gently fold in berries. Spoon into prepared pan and bake about 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Serves 12 to 16. I use a bundt pan and it works fine. Yummy, kind of coffee cakeish.
I can't tell you how many times I have talked myself in and out of buying a yogurt maker. When I saw this recipe I decided to give it a try. The recipe can be found at this blog site www.granny-miller.com. On the right side of the page you will see six small pics, click on the top left pic of a bowl of yogurt with cranberries on top and that will take you to the recipe. I found it to be a lengthy but easy three part process. I made the yogurt overnight but next time I might try it during the day. I used a flour sack dishcloth to line the collander and the last part of the process only took about two hours for me. The yogurt will thicken a little more in the fridge when it chills. It will be tart but I decided not to add any sweetner or flavorings. I bought some cherries, peaches, and I had some blueberries left so I made a sauce with each fruit to have with my yogurt. Goodbye store bought yogurt ;-)
Have a great day my friend.
Sorry about the listing of ingredients for the pound cake. I typed them in two columns left and right with space between. When they published they ran the wording together. Live and learn!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recipe! Hopefully I'll have a chance to make it soon.
DeleteHomemade yogurt! That's dedication. Maybe someday I'll try it, though it sounds pretty involved.
Guess what I made: those wool dryer balls! They are amazing! Glad I tried it. No more dryer sheets for me!
We have a wall! And a ceiling! It's a miracle! They say everything should be done by Thursday. That's only two days away and we are ready to celebrate!
I'll have the 1st thru the 12th off, and then I go back on the 13th. It will be a nice break, though there are so many things that I need to do around the house that I'm not sure it will be much of a break.
I hope you're having a great week! Happy Wednesday! xoxo
